The Myth vs. The Reality
There is a persistent myth that hybrid inverters with battery storage are “new” or “not yet approved” in Aruba.
That is simply not correct.
👉 The Department of Technical Inspection (DTI) has already inspected and approved multiple hybrid inverter and battery storage installations in Aruba, provided they were installed safely and in accordance with the applicable regulations.
These inspections follow the same process that DTI has used for decades for:
- Backup generators
- Solar PV systems
- Main electrical installations
Hybrid energy systems are not experimental — they are already part of Aruba’s inspected electrical infrastructure.
Clear Legal Basis: The Lands Decree
All electrical installations in Aruba fall under the Landsbesluit Installatievoorschriften Elektrische Inrichtingen (AB 1996 no. GT5).
Under Article 2 of this Lands Decree, electrical installations:
- Must comply with established safety regulations
- Must be inspected before being put into operation
- May only be used after approval by the competent authority (DTI)
Hybrid inverters with battery storage are considered part of the electrical installation, and therefore fall fully within the scope of this law.
There is no exclusion or prohibition in the Lands Decree for battery storage systems.
The Same Rules as Generators
Hybrid systems are treated exactly the same as generators under Aruban law and inspection practice.
Generators:
- Produce and supply power
- Are integrated into the electrical installation
- Are inspected by DTI
- Are approved when installed safely
Hybrid inverters with storage follow the same logic, the same legal framework, and the same inspection pathway.
If generators are allowed — and they are installed everywhere — then hybrid energy systems are equally allowed.
International Standards, Local Enforcement
To assess safety and compliance, DTI applies internationally recognized electrical standards, including NEN 1010, the Dutch low-voltage installation standard.
This ensures that installations are:
- Electrically safe
- Properly protected
- Professionally installed
- Future-proof
When a system complies with NEN 1010 and the Lands Decree, DTI approval is possible and already happening.
So Why Are People Still Waiting?
Most hesitation comes from:
- Outdated information
- Uncertainty about inspections and inspectors not being guided
- Fear of “new rules coming later”
But while people wait:
- Electricity prices continue to rise
- Generator fuel costs increase
- Outages still happen
- Grid being congested and not balanced
- Savings are lost every single month
Battery Storage Is Not the Future — It’s Already Here
Hybrid inverter systems allow you to:
- Store solar energy for use at night
- Reduce dependence on the grid
- Limit generator runtime
- Protect homes and businesses during outages
- Lower long-term energy costs
And in Aruba, they are already being inspected and approved.
Why B-Energy
At B-Energy, we design and install hybrid inverter and battery storage systems that:
- Comply with the Lands Decree (AB 1996 no. GT5)
- Meet NEN 1010 safety standards
- Are prepared for DTI inspection
- Are scalable and future-ready
We don’t guess — we engineer, document, and guide the process from design to inspection.
Why Wait?
The law is clear.
DTI inspections are already happening.
Approved systems are already operating.
The only thing left is your decision.
